I don't ever remember seeing her grumpy - always a cheerful disposition and a hearty laugh.

And when I visited her at home a couple of years ago, we were just visiting for several hours, and we were both pretty tired - I remember waking up suddenly and not realizing that I had fallen asleep in my chair, and across the room she was asleep too!

Food always becomes part of the occasion, too, with this great Harlan clan. That same night Tom, Becky, and Marian came down to Gig Harbor and we had a nice meal and visit before going our separate ways.

I love the way you call Dad, 'Ronald' when he has been naughty!

WOW, where do I begin. Sandie always knew what was the right thing to do and kept me on the straight path, although that was a task in it's self.
Her smile - waht a great smile - I love her smile.
She gives great HUGS
She's a great mom and as good a grandmother devoted to her children
Kind, loving and just a wonderful friend.
SMART!
She has a deep faith and I admire that in her
I could go on and on - but I think you can see I truly admire the person called Sandie!

Ever since I have known your mom, she has always been extremely caring and genuine. I absolutely love talking to her and always feel loved when she is around. She has that glow about her that makes everyone love her instantly.
Love ya!

Wow. That is a hard request. My favorite thing about Sandie? I was typing my answer and suddenly noticed that everyone's answer is so short and sweet, and mine was already like three pages long!! I will try to summarize: First, I love everything about her. There is absolutely nothing to dislike. Secondly, in spite of this near perfection, she never makes you feel like you are less. In fact, she actually makes you feel like YOU are the special one! So I guess my favorite thing is that she is just so darn easy. So easy to be around, so easy to talk to, so easy to laugh with, so easy to love. Third, but not last, and maybe the most important, SHE IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!

If I had to narrrow it down, I think my very favorite thing about Mom is her amazing abundance of patience. I have so little of it (patience) so I really admire that quality in her.
She's been a very patient mother and for that I'm really grateful!

A lasting memory would be Valentines Day, 1983. One of a multitude of favorites, would be her smile and that twinkle in her eyes. The most genuine and warmest of greetings would be extended to all, that beautiful Sandra would come in contact with.

Hmmm...another favorite thing...
Duh! You're an amazing cook!
Green bean casserole, lasagne, and that crazy good bread with the mini chocolate chips!!
I'm drooling even now!
I blame you for the cellulite on my left leg!
I'll take the blame for the right!

I remember her smile and those delightful dimples that come out! And she WAS voted to have the cutest dimples in our senior year! When we were in high school she was always so thoughtful, so friendly, so caring. She was also an outstanding Songleader and worked very hard to put on our Senior Ball. Such fun memories. Hugs to you, Sandie.

As Aunt Sandie well knows I adore her magic cookie bars; they are probably the best in the entire world!

No matter how hard I try, I can never get them to come out as gooey and tasty as yours Sandie! I love you!

Its hard to put into words but you know how she does that thing when she laughs sometimes where her tongue squeezes out between her front teeth and she makes that sound like she is trying to stifle it - - - soooo cute.

Some other favorite memories:
- Watching her and Ron dance.
- Watching her babysit (I don't know how old those memories are - I guess they probably range from me being very young to teenage years?). But her face brightens when she is taking care of children.
- That way she would say "Michelle!" when Michelle had done something shocking or funny - a heavy accent on the "che" part and a loving smile as she would shake her head.
- How serious she gets when playing games (cards mostly come to mind - kanasta?). Silent moments as she stared at her hand - chewing on a nail.
- Her style
- Her creativity
- Ditto on the Magic Cookie Bars - she owns them in my world - every time I see them I think of her.
- Coming to my high school graduation (thank you!!).
- Finding me downstairs when I couldn't sleep one night and inquiring with so much love about my thoughts and worries.

and on and on and on........... I know you only asked for one thing but NO WAY!!! =) It took me so long to respond to this because it is an overwhelming question but I finally figured that some of the thoughts written down are better than none - even if it feels incomplete to me. =)

I LOVE YOU SANDIE!!!!!!!
